Jason Beck is your instructor in the Brewing Arts. Jason is rad. Jason has been teaching brewing since 2009, and has taught over 1400 people how to brew beer at home. He has brewed over 11,000 pints of beer at home, and has brewed over a million pints of beer in his professional brewing career. He was previously the Head Brewer at the Devil's Canyon Brewing Company. He has taught brewing to undergraduates at Stanford, and taught graduate enrichment seminars there as well. Jason is the owner and Brewmaster of Mercurius Brewing. Check us out on the web, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You will often find Jason wearing a dashiki.
Drinking the first pour of Mercurius legit on tap. Join us Thursday 6p-9p at @alphaacidbrewingco to enjoy our Roasted Banana + Donut Bread Pudding Weizenbock for one night only. You can actually pay us money for beer! (well Alpha Acid technically).
Today we brewed our first official beer as Mercurius Brewing. Well, technically @alphaacidbrewingco brewed the beer under license, but that's boring business stuff. A HUGE thanks to Kyle and everyone at @alphaacidbrewingco. It's a great honor to work with truly good people. This is a day long in the making. The first pic is an accurate representation of how I felt today. Excited, exhausted, elated, and lots more 'e' adjectives. Stay tuned for when you can drink this beer, and lots more from Mercurius this year.
Santa showed up to help bottle tonight. A Xmas Ale, a Blonde, and an Oatmeal Stout. Great work everyone! #BrewItYourselfSF
Brewers, earth lovers, fellow alchemists: check out this Hop seminar on Sunday from @norcal_hop_growers_alliance . I went last year and learned A TON. Great info and networking with local brewers and farmers and other awesome people.
Sunset over the Chinook and Cascade at @capracopia farm. In just a few weeks we'll be back here brewing fresh hop beer. There's still a few spots left, link in our bio.
We had a great Advanced Brewing class yesterday. We brewed 15 gallons of all-grain wort: 10 of an East/West Hazy IPA, and 5 of a gruit. Oh, and lots of awesome beer to drink. Thanks to the rad students; I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! 🍻 🌾
The first of the SF Beer Week #brewityourselfsf class beers got bottled tonight. A great IPA, stout, and amber. Awesome job everyone!
This is the gruit (mixture of herbs and spices) for La Birra Fernet. Over 200 grams in 5 gallons of beer. There's 37 different herbs and spices in this batch. Notice how little hops there are (the little green rabbit-pellet-looking things). There's so many amazing plants we can use to flavor our beer, why do we almost exclusively use hops? Or, as Randy Mosher wrote, "hops are just another herb, mon." #whyjusthops?
Thanks to everyone that came out to Beers Made by Walking today. Our Sutro Sour was well received, and we were happy to support a great organization like @sutro.stewards.
Serving up some Roasted Banana + Donut Bread Pudding Weizenbock tonight. Come get some at @workshopsf from 7-10. There's a donut in every glass! ™️
Join me tomorrow to harvest hops at @capracopia farm in Sebastopol. Take a mental health day from work and enjoy the beautiful aroma of the farm and some good ol' manual labor. Message me if you are interested. I'm sure there will be beer drinking involved, and bringing home some fresh hops for your weekend brew.
At that time Ba‘al Zəbûl, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
